Dental Veneers

About Dental Venners

Dental veneers are a common cosmetic treatment designed to improve the appearance of your teeth, helping your smile look straighter, brighter, and more natural. A veneer is a very thin “shell” that is bonded to the front surface of a tooth to enhance its colour, shape, and overall look. Veneers can be an excellent option for concerns such as stubborn discolouration, small chips or worn edges, mild gaps between front teeth, or teeth that look uneven in size or shape.

Before treatment, we perform a thorough assessment of your oral health, bite, gum condition, and habits such as teeth grinding, to ensure veneers are suitable and will last well over time. Depending on your needs, veneers may be made from composite resin or porcelain. Porcelain veneers are known for their natural translucency, strong stain resistance, and long-term aesthetics, while composite veneers can often be completed more quickly and are easier to adjust. The best choice depends on your tooth condition, aesthetic goals, and budget.

Veneer treatment is planned with a “minimally invasive” approach, aiming to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible. In many cases, only a small amount of enamel is reshaped (and for some patients, preparation can be very conservative). We then take an impression or digital scan and custom-make veneers to suit your smile. Once ready, we check the fit and shade, then carefully bond the veneers in place for a secure, natural-looking result. With good daily cleaning (brushing and flossing/interdental cleaning) and regular check-ups, veneers can help you maintain a confident smile for years. If you grind your teeth or have a heavier bite, we may recommend a night guard to help protect both the veneers and your natural teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental veneers are thin shells (usually porcelain or composite resin) bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve colour, shape, size, and overall appearance. They are commonly used to enhance the look of chipped, stained, uneven, or slightly gapped front teeth.

You may be suitable if your teeth and gums are healthy and you want to improve the appearance of your smile. Veneers may not be ideal if you have untreated gum disease, significant tooth decay, or heavy teeth grinding—although a night guard and other options may help. We’ll assess your bite and oral health before recommending veneers.

Veneers are planned to be as conservative as possible. In many cases, only a small amount of enamel is reshaped to allow a natural fit and strong bonding. We’ll discuss the expected preparation for your specific case before treatment begins.

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, veneers can last many years. Porcelain veneers are generally more stain-resistant and durable than composite veneers. Longevity depends on factors such as your bite, oral habits, and how well you care for them.

Care for veneers like natural teeth: brush twice daily with a soft toothbrush, floss or use interdental brushes daily, and attend routine dental visits and professional cleans. Avoid biting hard objects (ice, pens) and be cautious with very hard foods. If you grind your teeth, a night guard may be recommended to protect your veneers.
